Radtouring and more...
I have been waiting for 10 years for all the kids to be big enough and have strong enough legs and good enough bikes ie at least 3 gears with 2 of those gears working to take them on longer bike rides. Radtours are amazing and were we live is an area where there are loads of bike tracks that aren't on the road. On Mothers Day Herr F suggested a bike ride and picnic to the castle park. I took the opportunity of an outing on my day to up the ante a bit and suggested we attempt a bike tour to Burg Huelshoff. Slowly I added going to Schloss Rueschhaus as well. As I couldn't find the exact poute on the map we all played it cool (something I am not great at when I have a plan in mind) and decided to head for Burg Huelshoff and see if we happened upon Schloss Rueschhaus on the way. What do you know, of course we did as it is all so well signposted. 20km round trip, excellent riding by kids, zero complaining, 2 bridges over the autobahn crossings which are very disconcerning as the cars were flying underneath you, a picnic lunch and two very beautiful "houses". Kids must have been tired on the way home as we passed the best icecream shop and no one asked that we stop. Huge credit to the Mouse who has smaller wheels than everyone else and only 2 working gears. She kept up the whole way without any need for us to go slower.
We wrapped up the weekend with a bit more horse puzzling (to puzzle as in to do a puzzle is a verb in German so I am going with a bit of denglish)
